SCUSD Board of Education Recap
April 4, 2024

At the April 4 meeting of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified School District Board took action to approve a resolution in recognition of Adult Education Week, April 7-13, to highlight the importance of continuous learning beyond formal schooling and the value of education at all stages of life, promoting a culture of lifelong learning. The Board received an update on the District’s adult education programs.

Nigeria Solar Notebook Project

Students and staff at Miwok Middle School, Leonardo da Vinci K-8, and Washington Elementary worked together this year to support students in Ewatto, Nigeria, with assistance from SMUD, Solar Schoolhouse and WaZoBia Arts.

Superintendent Allen, Mr. Allen and Deputy Superintendent Mary Hardin Young with the SCUSD Board

At the April 18 meeting of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified School District Board, the Board recognized Vivian Toddy as a Stellar Student. Vivian attends Albert Einstein Middle School where she participates in the GATE program and advanced band. She is very involved in the American Indian community, SCUSD’s American Indian Education  Program, and is a member of the Native Youth of Â鶹ÊÓƵ youth group. Vivian is a talented musician and artist and is an accomplished student. Her teachers describe her as an excellent role model for her classmates.

Statement from SCUSD Board President Lavinia Grace Phillips Regarding Appointment of Superintendent Lisa Allen

The following statement is attributed to SCUSD Board President Lavinia Phillips regarding the appointment of Lisa Allen as Superintendent:

“I’m so proud that Lisa Allen has been appointed as SCUSD’s Superintendent! Our  governing board made the decision to appoint her to serve in this role, but in doing so, we were responding to feedback and requests that came from our community.

Public Hearing Notice: American Indian Education Program
@ Serna Center Community Rooms

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified School District’s American Indian Education Program will hold its annual public hearing on Monday May 6, 2024 6:30 P.M.-7:30 P.M. at the Serna Center.

The purpose of this meeting is to gather recommendations for the 2024-2025 Title VI Indian Education Formula grant application.
