Food Literacy Center Celebrates Grand Opening of New Facility at Leataata Floyd Elementary School
New state-of-the-art facility to serve Sac City Unified Students, families, and community members
Â鶹ÊÓƵ, CA - After more than seven years in the making, the Food Literacy Center has a new home. The 4,500 square-foot facility at Leataata Floyd Elementary now serves as the headquarters for the nonprofit. The 2.5-acre facility features a cooking classroom, commercial kitchen, and student gardens to provide Food Literacy Center the space to advance their mission of developing food literacy in children across Â鶹ÊÓƵ.
SCUSD Responds to Unfair Practice Charge
Â鶹ÊÓƵ, CA - SCUSD is aware that the Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Teachers’ Association (SCTA) filed an Unfair Practice Charge with the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) alleging bad faith bargaining and interference with SCTA’s rights. The District denies the allegations made in the complaint and will respond to the charge.

SCUSD Nutrition Services Offers Summer Meals for Children
Â鶹ÊÓƵ, CA - Beginning today, Thursday, June
30, 2022, the Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified School District’s (SCUSD)
Nutrition Services Department is offering breakfast and lunch at
more than 30 SCUSD school locations.
All children 18 years-old and under can receive a meal, no
paperwork necessary and enrollment is not required. The summer
meal program is available Monday through Friday for breakfast and
lunch through Friday, July 29, 2022. Breakfast is served from 8
a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and lunch is served from 12 p.m. to 12:30
p.m.
Update on West Campus Racist Graffiti Investigation
Â鶹ÊÓƵ, CA - An investigation into racist graffiti and social media activity at West Campus High School in November 2021 is now complete and a report has been issued. The Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified School District immediately retained a neutral outside investigator who spent six months looking into the complaints about West Campus. This investigation was separate from the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Police Department’s criminal investigation of the matter.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ, CA - The Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified School District has ended its employment relationship with a teacher who used racist language in a classroom at Kit Carson International Academy last June. The district quickly removed the teacher from the classroom following the incident, and the teacher was placed on administrative leave during an investigation about the matter.
