Reminder to Report COVID cases

Principal Bulletin Informational

COVID-19 Cases are up and we are seeing a number of outbreaks. As you know the district changed exposure notification procedures for classroom exposures starting 9/5/23. CDPH and Â鶹ÊÓƵ County Public Health advise us not to send exposure notifications to families when there is a case of Covid-19 at school, including when there is an outbreak. COVID-19 is now considered endemic and widespread. It is not causing the severe illness, hospitalizations, and deaths that occurred earlier in the pandemic, and therefore is being treated similarly to flu.

However, Cal OSHA, the regulatory agency for employers, continues to require exposure notifications for staff. Until that regulation changes, we are all required to continue reporting cases of COVID-19 in students and staff to covidreport@scusd.edu. SCUSD continues to be required to investigate and send exposure notifications to staff.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to Lisa Musser, Health Services Coordinator or call the COVID Help Line at (916) 951-0951. Thank you for your support in keeping our community healthy.
