Health Services Updates – COVID Test Expirations

With the ending of the state and federal Covid public health emergency, many of the extensions on Covid test kit expirations are ending. Given these shifts, SCUSD will be disposing of all expired testing supplies. Please do not be alarmed if you see large numbers of test kits being disposed of.
Rapid Antigen Test Expiration
SCUSD has approx. 175,000 rapid antigen tests that are reaching expiration by the end of the school year. SCUSD will begin disposing of these test kits at the school site and district locations.
OTC Test Expiration
CDPH is ending the blanket OTC expiration extension, and is now following the for the specific extensions for each brand and lot number. Each brand has a specific extension date that may be found . SCUSD will be disposing of all tests that are deemed expired per the FDA at our school sites and district locations. All non-expired tests will either stay at school sites open for the summer or be brought back to the warehouse for temperature-controlled storage.
