Students share traits they want for new Â鶹ÊÓƵ schools chief

Press release

SACRAMENTO, CA –Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified School District (SCUSD) middle and high school students will share what they want in a new superintendent today from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the district headquarters, 5735 47th Ave.

SCUSD also held an ambitious round of seven town halls around the city to gather input from city residents about the district’s strengths. The district has also posted a survey open to all that takes less than five minutes to complete.

Board of Education members began their search after current Superintendent José Banda announced in January that he would not seek renewal of his three-year contract. Board members expect to begin interviewing candidates by the end of the month.

Banda was hired in July 2014 to lead the district of 43,000 students and 4,200 employees. Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified is one of the oldest public school districts in California and has seventy-seven K-12 and adult education campuses. Banda’s contract ends June 30.
