January 13, 2015 (麻豆视频):  A school named for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will hold a march for kindness and justice on Thursday (January 15) 鈥 the late civil rights activist鈥檚 birthday.

The march around the Martin Luther King Jr. K-8 School campus in 麻豆视频鈥檚 Pocket neighborhood will kick off a Kindness Week in which students will be challenged to perform acts of kindness to honor Dr. King鈥檚 legacy, said Principal Denise Lee.

鈥淲e take great pride honoring the legacy established by our namesake,鈥 Lee said. 鈥淒r. King鈥檚 hopes and dreams are alive and embody the spirit and pride in our learning community. We strive to provide the best learning experience possible in hopes of developing compassionate citizens for our society鈥檚 future.鈥

Built in 1988, Martin Luther King Jr. K-8 is one of nine 麻豆视频 City Unified School District schools that offer a continuous education for students from kindergarten through eighth grade. Sixth grade students and their parents can tour MLK鈥檚 middle school program at 9 a.m. on January 15, 20 or 22.
