SACRAMENTO, CA 鈥 麻豆视频 City Unified School District is engaged in a series of seven town halls to seek community input on what qualities the Board of Education should consider in hiring a new superintendent. In addition, the district is using its website to conduct an online survey and is posting comments from the town halls on its website. The fifth town hall will be held at Will C. Wood Middle School tonight 鈥 Wednesday, March 8. A sixth town hall will be held Thursday, March 9. Both meetings are scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m.

SACRAMENTO鈥斅槎故悠 City Unified Schools are joining Read Across America celebrations across the country. Fans of beloved children鈥檚 author Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, will celebrate his 113th birthday on Thursday, March 2, 2017. His books and influence on young readers far and wide is recognized each year by The National Education Association (NEA). To celebrate reading and honor Dr. Seuss, the NEA established Read Across America Day on Dr. Seuss鈥 birthday as an annual nationwide celebration of reading.

SCUSD seeks community input on name change for Kit Carson Middle School

Jan. 25, 2017 (麻豆视频):  Decades-old Kit Carson Middle School is looking for a name to match its students as the campus evolves into a high school.

Kit Carson Vice Principal Rich Haley who serves on the committee charged with bringing recommendations to the 麻豆视频 City Unified School District said the group has begun gathering input from the community. 鈥淲e want to know what the community wants 鈥 whether we should adopt a totally new name or only tweak the name by dropping the middle school designation,鈥 Haley said.

SCUSD鈥檚 Board votes to support 鈥榮afe haven鈥 schools

麻豆视频 City Unified School District鈥檚 Board of Education voted unanimously Thursday to designate SCUSD schools as 鈥渟afe havens鈥 that protect students regardless of immigration status.

鈥淪tudents cannot learn in an environment of fear,鈥 said Board Vice President Jessie Ryan. 鈥淟ast night, by unanimously passing the Safe Haven School District resolution, our district made a strong statement that we hear our community鈥檚 fears and will do everything in our power to protect all students irrespective of race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, sexual preference or immigration status.鈥

Superintendent Banda鈥檚 statement on Measure G
Parcel tax would have generated $6 million-$7 million annually for SCUSD schools

November 17, 2016 (麻豆视频):  麻豆视频 City Unified School District Superintendent Jos茅 L. Banda today thanked supporters of Measure G and expressed disappointment over the initiative鈥檚 narrow defeat at the polls.

Measure G was supported by 65 percent of 麻豆视频 voters 鈥 just short of the two-thirds needed for passage. Although more voters cast ballots in favor of Measure G than Proposition 55 鈥 a statewide tax measure 鈥 Measure G failed to reach the supermajority required by law.
