Healthy Schools Program

Schools are powerful places to shape the health, education and well-being of our children. That is why the Alliance鈥檚 Healthy Schools Program supports more than 13,000 schools across the U.S. in their efforts to create environments where physical activity and healthy eating are accessible and encouraged.

The Alliance provides expert advice and resources for school professionals, teachers and students in addition to information specifically for parents. Parents serve as key role models in the home and they can also help ensure that health is a priority at their child鈥檚 school.

Neighbors asked to help protect schools over winter recess
Metal thieves, vandals prey on schools during the holidays

The holidays are a busy time of year 鈥 especially for vandals, thieves and arsonists looking to take advantage of empty school campuses.

In light of this, SCUSD is asking the community for help in keeping schools safe and secure over winter break (December 24 through January 8 鈥 school resumes Monday, January 9).

鈥淢ost of our schools are surrounded by homes, and we need those neighbors to join us in protecting these valuable and sometimes vulnerable community centers,鈥 said 麻豆视频 Police Lt. Katherine Lester, who heads SCUSD security services.
