SCUSD launches anti-bullying training series for parents
Program is part of district-wide push to keep students safe

September 17, 2012 (Â鶹ÊÓƵ):  Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified School District will hold the first of four community bullying prevention trainings at Luther Burbank High School tomorrow night (Tuesday, September 18).

The trainings are free and open to anyone in the community who wants to learn more about bullying.

“We’re working hard to raise awareness of bullying so our students can better advocate for themselves when bullying occurs,†said SCUSD Bullying Prevention Specialist Sheila Self.

SCUSD to celebrate Green Apple Day of Service with campus clean ups
‘Where we learn matters’ is slogan for international event

September 20, 2012 (Â鶹ÊÓƵ): Schools in Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified School District are participating in the first-ever Green Apple Day of Service, an international event sponsored by the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council.

The first Green Apple Day project gets underway this Saturday (September 22) at West Campus High School. Hundreds of volunteers from Starbucks, Rebuilding Together, State of Being and the West Campus community will work to revitalize the grounds surrounding two classroom wings.

Assemblymember Roger Dickinson to Distribute Over 300

On Wednesday, September 12, Assemblymember Roger Dickinson will distribute over 300 backpacks filled with school supplies to Â鶹ÊÓƵ youth. Dickinson’s 2nd annual “Give Back(pack) Drive,†a back-to-school drive to collect backpacks and supplies for kindergarten through 6th grade students in Â鶹ÊÓƵ ran throughout the month of August.
