Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Schools hosting public meeting today for ‘Central Kitchen’ project

WHAT:                 The Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified School District invites the public to learn more about the launch of its Central Kitchen project at a public meeting today. SCUSD’s Central Kitchen project was approved by voters in 2012 as part of Measure R. District officials expect the Central Kitchen to help offer students healthier food options that will include more local fruits and vegetables and menu items created ‘from scratch’.

What: The Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified School District Board of Trustees will vote to approve Mr. Jorge Aguilar as the district’s next Superintendent at their May 4th meeting. Mr. Aguilar comes to SCUSD from the Fresno Unified School District where he has served as a Deputy Superintendent for the past nine years, playing an instrumental role in significantly improving Fresno’s graduation rates. Mr. Aguilar is the son of immigrant farmworkers and often spent his summers as a teenager working in the fields of the central valley. Mr.

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified School District’s (SCUSD) Board of Education has completed its schedule of town hall meetings and finalized results of its online survey that sought community input on the desired qualities in a new superintendent. Eight meetings were held at schools and locations throughout the district with participation from over 372 attendees that represented a broad and diverse group of parents, students, staff and community members. Comments from each town hall are posted on the district website.

SACRAMENTO—Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified Schools are joining Read Across America celebrations across the country. Fans of beloved children’s author Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, will celebrate his 113th birthday on Thursday, March 2, 2017. His books and influence on young readers far and wide is recognized each year by The National Education Association (NEA). To celebrate reading and honor Dr. Seuss, the NEA established Read Across America Day on Dr. Seuss’ birthday as an annual nationwide celebration of reading.
