The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), also known Every Child Succeeds Act (ESSA) provides benefits to low-income students enrolled in non-profit, private or not-for-profit school sites. Public school districts are required to provide services to eligible private school students which are equitable to those provided to qualified public school students in the same district. The Parent Information Exchange (P.I.E.) was established in 1999 as an opportunity for SCUSD parents and school site and district staff to exchange information with community agencies providing free and low-cost services to students and their families.
