Sutter Middle to pilot DUI Court in Schools Program on Friday
First middle school in region to bring a defendant on campus for sentencing by judge

February 28, 2013 (麻豆视频):  Eighth graders at Sutter Middle School will witness the harsh legal consequences of driving under the influence when the DUI Court in Schools Program comes to campus this Friday (March 1).

The school鈥檚 gym will be transformed into the courtroom of a local judge, and a driver arrested for DUI will be sentenced and given an opportunity to address an assembly of students and their parents. The teens will hear for themselves about the dangers of taking the wheel after drinking.

March 19, 2013 (麻豆视频):  Young adults of all physical ability levels  will come together on Wednesday (March 20) for SCUSD鈥檚 second annual Spring Inclusive Basketball Tournament organized by the district鈥檚 adaptive PE teachers.

鈥淭his is a great way to build caring relationships between students who might not otherwise get to know each other,鈥 says Luther Burbank High School teacher Greg Polo, an event organizer. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a lot of fun for the kids and good learning experience for all involved.鈥

Students vie for $1 million at SCUSD Project Green event
Blue-ribbon panel of local experts will judge student proposals for making campuses more sustainable

May 21, 2013 (麻豆视频):  Thirteen student 鈥済reen teams鈥 from the 麻豆视频 City Unified School District will showcase projects to make their campuses greener and more sustainable at SCUSD鈥檚 second annual Project Green Showcase on Thursday (May 23).

Viable projects are in line for $1 million in Measure Q bond money set aside for green school initiatives. Measure Q was approved by 麻豆视频 voters in November.

June 17, 2013 (麻豆视频):  Vandals, arsonists and metal thieves cost the 麻豆视频 City Unified School District more than $100,000 a year 鈥 money the cash-strapped district cannot afford.

That鈥檚 why SCUSD is asking the community for help in keeping schools safe and secure over the long summer break which stretches until the first Tuesday after Labor Day in September.
