Joint Statement from SCUSD and SEIU Regarding Compensation
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified School District (SCUSD) and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1021 have reached an agreement to close out contract reopener negotiations for the previous 2022-2023 school year.
This historic agreement demonstrates the significant value that SCUSD places on retaining and recruiting the finest classified staff to support our students, teachers and facilities. It also ensures that SEIU unit members will be elevated to a salary that is more reflective of their immense value to the District.
Discontinuation of SCUSD Testing Center
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has informed SCUSD they are terminating their support and funding for all Community Rapid Testing (“CRTâ€) at all organizations, including Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified. As a result, effective November 10, 2023, SCUSD’s Serna Covid Testing Center clinic will no longer be authorized to perform professional COVID-19 antigen tests using the CDPH Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) waiver.

At the November 16 meeting of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Unified School District Board, the Board took action to approve the appointment of Timothy Rocco as the District’s Chief Information Officer.
The Board recognized Buck Vang, a student in 6th grade at Elder Creek Elementary School, and Naledi Kalaote-Hurt, a 5th grade student at Elder Creek Elementary School, as Stellar Students. Both students are recognized for being dedicated and active learners.
Apply to a High School Specialty Program
Applications accepted October 30 - November 17
The SCUSD High School Specialty Program application window officially opens Monday, October 30 and will run through Friday, November 17. This is an opportunity for your student to apply for enrollment in a high school specialty program for the 2024-2025 school year, based on space availability.
